Olympus wanted to use a specific example to show how its medical and opto-digital expertise complement each other in developing innovative solutions. The choice for this was the EndoCapsule, a small camera that, once swallowed, takes around 50,000 photos on its way through the human body.
Task
Develop and implement a communications campaign in photography trade and consumer media.
Implementation/Results
To emphasise Olympus’s high level of opto-digital expertise, we compared the EndoCapsule with the best Olympus digital SLR camera available at the time. This experiment generated great interest, especially from specialist editors and imaging technology professionals. The comparison demonstrated that this small camera could compete with the SLR and was even slightly ahead in some aspects.
